Mercedes-Benz is planning to become the new premium car brands in the United States, and it’s a big deal for the automaker, which has struggled to win consumers over over in the past decade.
The carmakers have a big head start on BMW, which had the first luxury car in the U.S. in 1992 and has since grown into a major force in the auto industry.
The brands are now poised to become major players in the global luxury market.
Mercedes-Borussia-Benz will enter the luxury segment this year, according to the company’s press release, with the brand’s new models slated to be released in 2021.
Mercedes will sell the Mercedes-AMG GLC 600, Mercedes-SBR GLC 650, Mercedes S-Class, Mercedes CLK GLC 550, Mercedes A-Class and Mercedes A380.
Mercedes also plans to offer the brand-new Mercedes SEL 450 and the brand new Mercedes SCL 350.
Other models to come include the Mercedes AMG GLE 400, Mercedes GLE 460, Mercedes AM GLE 500, Mercedes CLA 300, Mercedes E-Class 400 and Mercedes E300.
The brand will also introduce the new Mercedes-Daimler-Chrysler Mercedes-electric crossover SUV.
Mercedes is expected to enter the United Kingdom this year as well, and will introduce the Mercedes SLS AMG, which will be based on the brand SEL 300 platform.
Mercedes has also said it will enter China and India as well.
Mercedes did not immediately respond to Ars’ request for comment.
