Expedia has confirmed that it has been offered a lease to lease a car to someone on the same platform as its former parent company.
It will be the first car rental to be offered to an independent passenger, the company said.
It also confirmed that a new car leasing service called Expedia CarRental will launch later this year, but it is not clear whether that will be for a car rental or an expo car.
The company did not disclose the value of the new car lease.
Expedia did not respond to a request for comment.
Expansys said that the offer will be made “to those who may be interested” and that “the offer is subject to a 24-month lease period”.
Expedia is currently one of the most popular car rental providers in Ireland, with customers taking more than 3.6 million trips per annum and making more than 2.6bn trips across the globe in 2016.
The service’s car rental business has grown more than fivefold since it was acquired by a private equity firm in 2010.
